This summer has been a roller coaster for many reasons so as we welcome in the first days of August, we have taken a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come.
This past weekend, we were given the opportunity to host a space at the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership’s Outdoor Exhibition in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. We met so many wonderful people, saw smiling faces everywhere, and we were reminded of why we do what we do.
The ultimate goal is to reduce the amount of things that are needlessly discarded, and provide new life and use to things that are sometimes deemed broken, or useless. The program we have named the Earth Craft Gear Exchange, is focused on exactly that. To provide affordable access to the appropriate tools for exploring the outdoors safely and responsibly. We create our own survival kits as well to pair with this goal. Spending time outside in any capacity is beneficial for everyone, and we want to help make it easier and more accessible for the enjoyment of all.
Through these efforts we give back first. Just like items can be treated as broken or useless, unfortunately so can people sometimes. That is why our main purpose is to bring support and awareness to victims of domestic abuse, and youth experiencing homelessness, by donating 10% of our sales directly to organizations that are doing the work on the frontlines. We do the advocacy, they provide the resources, and support. Learn more here.
We are currently hard at work preparing for a few events coming up, and feeling like we are herding cats some days trying to get things rolling with our online store offerings, and the online gear exchange. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we go through these growing pains and struggles of a small business getting off the ground.
This upcoming weekend we will be at the Duncannon Block Party in Duncannon, Pennsylvania. Stop by to say hello and check out the gear exchange, our survival kits, and artwork! We will also be offering gear repair at the event, so bring by your favorite piece of gear, or that puffy jacket you just can’t live without, and we can help you refurbish it, and get more miles adventuring with your trusted gear and outerwear!
Last weekend, the amount of support increased to a total of $86.00 for the year raised for the organizations that we donate to. A huge thank you to everyone that came out and supported a small business, but most of all, became a part of a movement to create a more compassionate world. We are so grateful for the people that we have met and interacted with, and for the encouragement that we have received, it means the world to us, and gives us strength to continue our mission. Thank you from all of us here at Earth Craft Adventure Co.
